NEW DELHI: India’s para-javelin thrower, Navdeep Singh on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in the national capital along with other athletes, who participated at the recently concluded Paris Paralympics.
Navdeep presented a cap to PM Modi and asked him to sign his jacket.
PM Modi signed Navdeep’s jacket on the left side, which is Navdeep’s throwing arm.
PM Modi shared the moment on Instagram, describing it as ‘a very touching gesture’ by his friend and India’s pride.

During the meeting, PM Modi asked Navdeep about a viral video following his recent victory.
Navdeep responded, “Last time (Tokyo Paralympics), I had finished fourth. Before leaving for Paris, I had promised you, so the promise has been fulfilled.”
Navdeep won the gold medal in the men’s javelin F41 event at the Paris Paralympics after the initial winner from Iran was disqualified.
Navdeep’s throw of 47.32 meters was a season-best.
India’s contingent ended the Paris Paralympics with 29 medals – the most in the country’s Paralympic history.
The team won seven golds, nine silvers, and 13 bronzes, surpassing the 19 medals from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
India finished 18th overall in the event.
