NEW DELHI: At the Paris Paralympics, Rubina Francis etched her name in Indian sports history by securing the bronze medal in the P2 women’s 10m Air Pistol SH-1 final.
Her achievement, a testament to her talent and unwavering spirit, was followed by a heartfelt message to the nation, urging everyone to chase their dreams with unwavering belief. “I am very happy,” she said, as quoted by ANI.
Rubina, visibly elated, emphasized the importance of unwavering dedication and self-belief. “My message to everyone is give 100% in whatever work you do. Keep faith in yourself, and do what you want,” she shared, her words resonating with millions across India.
Her path to victory saw her accumulate 211.1 points in the final. Javanmardi Sareh of Iran secured gold with 236.8 points, while Turkey’s Ozgan Aysel claimed silver with 231.1 points.
Rubina’s journey to the podium began with a sixth-place finish in the qualification round. She steadily climbed the ranks, showcasing her composure and precision, ultimately securing a place in the final.
This bronze medal adds to India’s growing medal tally at the Paris Paralympics and specifically contributes to the nation’s strong tradition in shooting.
This success follows the impressive performance of the Indian shooting contingent at the Tokyo Olympics, where they secured five medals, including two gold, one silver, and two bronze.
