Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who kick-started the party’s campaign on Wednesday for the assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir, said his party would “restore statehood to the Union Territory after coming to power”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will kick off the BJP’s election campaign in Jammu and Kashmir with mega rallies in Chenab Valley. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP national president JP Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are among the other leaders who could campaign. A total of 40 leaders are star campaigners.
