A Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) truck gets stuck after it fell upside down into a sinkhole at the City Post Office in Budwar Peth area premises during the ongoing drainage cleaning work, in Pune on Friday.
A truck belonging to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) sanitation department plunged into a sinkhole that opened up on the premises of the City Post Office in the Budhwar Peth locality on Friday afternoon. The incident, which occurred around 4 pm, caused alarm in the densely populated area, though no injuries were reported.
The truck, a jetting machine used to clean drainage lines, was parked when the ground, paved with interlocking cement blocks, gave way.
Dramatic video footage shared on social media showed the rear of the truck sinking slowly into the hole as the surface collapsed. The driver managed to escape unharmed before the vehicle was fully submerged.

As per the reports, Fire brigade officials responded swiftly to the scene, receiving a call at 4:15 pm. A total of 20 fire department personnel, alongside police officers, were deployed to aid in rescue efforts. Several two-wheelers also fell into the sinkhole, and authorities have been working to retrieve the vehicles using specialized equipment.
While underground work for the Pune Metro is ongoing in the area, the exact cause of the sinkhole is still under investigation. Fire department officials have stated that further assessments will be conducted to determine the reasons behind the sudden collapse.
