Social Media Posts Claiming Ex-MP Majeed Memon Was 26/11 Convict Ajmal Kasab’s Lawyer Are False

The Verdict: False Advocates like Abbas Kazmi, Amin Solkar, and Farhana Shah represented 26/11 convict Ajmal Kasab at different stages. What is the claim? Multiple social media users have claimed that former member of the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) of the Parliament and advocate Majeed Memon was Ajmal Kasab’s lawyer. Kasab was convicted and executed for the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai, the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra.  Users claimed that Sharad Pawar, the founder of the undivided Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), made Memon a Rajya Sabha MP, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gave a ticket to Ujjwal Nikam who was responsible for prosecuting and securing the hanging of Kasab.    Screenshots of social media posts making the claim....

Out on bail, can ‘victim’ Kejriwal sway Delhi? | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: When Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal led a protest march of Aam Aadmi Party to BJP headquarters in the capital last Sunday against the arrest of his close aide in an alleged assault case, it was seen as an extension of a resolute fight he waged against Centre.Out on interim bail for three weeks to campaign for his party in the ongoing polls, Kejriwal has made the BJP-led central govt’s alleged attempt to “crush and break” AAP by “framing” party functionaries in “fake” cases of corruption the main election issue this time. The AAP national convener himself was arrested on March 21 in an alleged money laundering case linked to a now-rescinded excise policy, just five days after general elections were announced in the country and the model code of conduct was imposed.AAP con...

‘PM Modi Freaking Out, Using Foul Language’: CM Kejriwal Slams Rhetoric Against Pawar, Uddhav

In a fervent address during a roadshow in Delhi's Badarpur and Tughlakabad areas, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the BJP, rallying voters to counter the party's "jail threats" with their ballots. Urging support for AAP candidate Sahiram Pehalwan for the South Delhi Lok Sabha seat, CM Kejriwal accused the BJP of resorting to intimidation tactics. He exclaimed, "Their 24-hour work is either to put this person in jail or that person in jail." Citing instances within his party, Kejriwal highlighted, "Manish Sisodia was put in jail, Satyendra Jain was put in jail, and I was put in jail. Now they are saying that Atishi and Saurabh will also be put in jail. What is this, if you can't win in Delhi, will you put everyone behind bars?...

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday addressed a rally in Maharashtra's Mumbai in a show of strength for the I.N.D.I.A. bloc ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The mega rally witnessed the presence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray, besides the AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal didn't mince words when targeting the current government, stating, "If the Modi government is formed again, god forbid, but if it does, Uddhav Thackeray, Kharge, Uddhav Thackeray, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka, and Sharad Pawar will be in jail by the next elections," he alleged. ‘Credit for split’ in Shiv Sena and NCP should be given to Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, says Fadnavis

In a no-holds-barred conversation with The Hindu, Mr. Fadnavis said if credit is due to anyone for the split in the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party, it should be given to the leaders of the respective parties— Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar. When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claims in his speeches that businessmen Adani and Ambani are funding the Congress, the BJP leader said: “Perhaps they might have given them (money), which is what he is saying…” Here are the excerpts from the interview. The BJP claims they have a panna pramukh (representative for all voters mentioned on each page of the electoral list) in each ward, but why was there a low voter turnout? An unnecessary narrative has been circulating suggesting a low voter turnout. However, in the majori...

Maharashtra | Who will win the Mahayuddh?

Jamlelya deshbhakta bandhawano, bhaginino aani maatanoâ€æ” The words ring out from a stage in Solapur, the textile town once known as the Manchester of Maharashtra. Rendered in English—“All my patriotic brothers, sisters and mothers gathered here”—it has all the grandiose air of one who has come to bury a Caesar, albeit in a different way. The speaker is a tall, lanky, bespectacled man—rather more bookish-looking than his flamboyant father. Uddhav Thackeray’s chosen form of address too is a departure from what orators from his stable have deployed over the years: the usual Shiv Sena invocation is to ‘Hindus’. It’s not just that Solapur has a significant Muslim population. The adjustment in vocabulary is in sync with the 180-degree turn Maharashtra’s politics has undergone over the past...

Baramati | The real Pawar struggle

For the 6,200-odd voters of Katewadi, a village in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency that goes to the polls on May 7, the decision on who to vote for is not incumbent on any discussion on the merits and demerits of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. It is not even centered around Maharashtra’s ruling Mahayuti (grand alliance) and the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Rather it revolves around saheb (veteran politician Sharad Pawar) and dada (his nephew Ajit Pawar). Source link
