President confirms appointment of Prof. Mohammad Shakeel as Officiating VC of JMI – Times of India
NEW DELHI: In a significant development for Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), the Hon'ble President of India, in her capacity as the Visitor of the university, has approved the appointment of Prof. Mohammad Shakeel as the Officiating Vice-Chancellor. This decision, made under the powers vested in her by the JMI Act of 1988, designates Prof. Shakeel to serve until a regular Vice-Chancellor assumes office.Prof.Mohammad Shakeel, currently the senior-most Professor in the university's Department of Civil Engineering, officially assumed the role of Officiating Vice-Chancellor on May 22, 2024.
