NEW DELHI: Flash floods in northern Afghanistan killed at least 200 people, according to the United Nations statement on Saturday.The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) reported to AFP that the heavy rains on Friday triggered massive flooding in Baghlan province, causing the deaths of over 200 and destruction or damage of thousands of homes.In the district of Baghlani Jadid, an IOM emergency response lead cited figures from the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, stating that up to 1,500 homes were impacted and "more than 100 people died". KABUL: At least 50 people, mainly women and children, were killed Friday in flash flooding that ripped through northern Afghanistan, official said, in a country highly vulnerable to climate change.
