Special PMLA court in Ranchi Saturday granted bail to suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal in connection with the Rs 18 crore MGNREGS ‘scam’ being investigated by ED.
The Jharkhand court imposed several conditions, including submission of two bonds worth Rs 2 lakh each, surrender of passport, restriction on leaving the state without informing the investigating officer, and mandatory court appearances when summoned, said defence advocate Vikrant Sinha.
During the two-day bail hearing, the defence argued that Singhal, arrested by ED on May 11, 2022, had already completed one-third of the maximum punishment of seven-year term under section 4 of PMLA.
