Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav used a cuss word in reference to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud when he was asked to comment on the CJI’s latest remarks on the landmark Ram Temple judgment.

“When you bring the dead back to life, they turn into ghosts and haunt the public. Many people talk like this, should I take notice of them,” Yadav said. However, Yadav later clarified his remarks and described the CJI as an excellent person.

CJI Chandrachud had earlier said he “sought help” from god to find a solution while hearing the historic Ayodhya Ram Mandir dispute. “I sat before the deity and told him he needs to find a solution,” CJI Chandrachud said on Sunday.

The CJI was addressing the residents of his native Kanhersar village in Khed taluka during a felicitation ceremony when he emphasised the importance of faith. He said that there are instances where it gets difficult to arrive at a solution in certain judicial cases.

“Something similar happened during the Ayodhya (Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute), which was in front of me for three months. I sat before the deity and told him he needs to find a solution,” PTI quoted CJI Chandrachud as saying.

Chandrachud was a part of the five-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by then Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi that settled the issue which went back more than a century by paving the way for the construction of the Ram Temple. The bench also ruled that a mosque would come up on an alternative five-acre plot in Ayodhya itself.
