Shahid Kapoor recently shared about a challenging time when his mother had just given birth to Ishaan Khatter and was trying to return to acting.
In an interview with Faye D’Souza, Shahid reflected on his early years in the industry, mentioning that while he had a good relationship with his father, he had been with his mother since he was three. When his younger brother Ishaan was born, Shahid was 14, and his mother paused her career to care for him. At the age of 35-36, having a child wasn’t easy for her, especially as a working woman with a teenage son and living in Mumbai. It was a challenging time for her, juggling her second marriage and efforts to return to acting. She couldn’t just make a call to get Shahid work, as she was also trying to get back into her own career, but it was difficult. People often forget you in such situations.
The actor went on to share that his mother was struggling to balance various responsibilities while they lived in rented homes. He also mentioned that although he had a good relationship with his father, he never felt comfortable asking him for help. He preferred to figure things out on his own, seeking advice and guidance when needed. Shahid took great pride in doing things independently, feeling that this was the only path for him.
Shahid made his Bollywood debut as a dancer in Subhash Ghai’s Taal (1999). Four years later, he took on his first leading role in Ishq Vishk (2003), earning Best Male Debut Award for his performance. Over time, he built a strong reputation as a leading star in the industry.
Shahid married Mira Rajput in 2015, and the couple had their first child, a daughter named Misha, in 2016. In 2018, they welcomed their son, Zain. Shahid will next be seen in the film Deva.
