Kerala female actors move high court for conduct code

Kochi: The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has filed a petition in Kerala HC seeking the formulation of guidelines to regulate the Malayalam film industry until the govt enacts a legislation on the matter.
The bench sought a reply from the state govt. The petitioners emphasized the need to protect the fundamental rights of women in the film industry while ensuring equal opportunity and dignity.
The petitioners submitted a draft ‘cinema code of conduct’, which proposes measures to address issues such as work culture, gender sensitization, and inadequate infrastructure. The code also advocates for a zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment, abuse, intimidation, and coercion. Members of All Kerala Hair and Make-up Stylists Union have also moved HC, alleging threats from union members for filing complaints with the SIT probing allegations in the Justice Hema Committee report. tnn
