Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet visits Manila, strengthens ties with Philippines

Indian Naval Ships Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan, part of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet, recently visited Manila, Philippines, as part of their operational deployment to the South China Sea. The visit showcased India’s robust ties with the Philippines and its dedication to fostering a stronger partnership between the two nations, a PIB press release stated.

The visit aimed at strengthening the ties between the two countries and enhancing the interoperability of the two navies. The port call witnessed subject matter exchanges between the Indian Navy and the Philippine Navy personnel. There were also sports fixtures, cross-deck visits, and cultural exchanges.

The Commanding Officers of the ships had an interaction with the counterparts of the Philippine Fleet. The two sides also discussed the avenues for collaboration, mutual interest, and the current security situation in the region and beyond. The visit of three Indian naval ships to Manila, Philippines, demonstrates the strong diplomatic and defence ties between the two countries. It also reflects India’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region in accordance with its ‘Act East’ and SAGAR policies.
