NEW DELHI: A fresh encounter broke out between the police and the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Kathua on Sunday afternoon, with the two sides engaged in exchange of fire in the forest region.
According to officials, a police search party was attacked by terrorists at the remote Nuknali Nalla in the Bani area.
This comes hours after overnight gunfight in Poonch‘s Pathanateer area ended with a terrorist being injured.
Officials reported that blood stains were found near the site of the gunfight, indicating that one of the terrorists may have been injured. The area remains under a security cordon, and a search operation is ongoing to locate the fleeing militants.
Following a tip-off about the presence of two to three terrorists, the police and Army had launched a joint search operation in the area on Saturday evening.
