
The Mumbai police arrested four people on Friday for allegedly attacking and killing a person over an old property dispute related to a dargah land in Bandra.
Three relatives of the deceased who tried to save him also sustained minor injuries in the attack.
According to the police, the four accused – Imran Khan, 35, his wife Fatima Imran Khan, 37, Usmanali Shaikh, 31 and his father Zakir Ali Shaikh, 62, all residents of Dargah Galli, behind Badi Masjid, Bandra (West) – attacked Shakir Ali Shaikh with choppers after a heated argument over the property dispute.
Shakir Ali Shaikh’s relative Afzal Ali Shaikh, who is the complainant in the murder case, Afzal Ali’s mother, and another relative Khijatali Sandole, tried to save Shakir Ali but were attacked too.
The fight stopped after the locals intervened, and the police were called. The injured were rushed to the Bhabha hospital, where Shakir Ali succumbed to his injuries.
Dikshit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 9, Mumbai police, said, “The Bandra police registered a case under Sections 103(1), 109, 118(1), 115, 49, 352, 351(2), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act.”
