Nationalist Congress Party (SP) Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule wrote to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Sunday, urging that the civil valour award be presented to the families of all six victims of the Pahalgam terror attack from the state on the occasion of Maharashtra Day on May 1.

Sule also asked Fadnavis to provide a government job to a member of each of these families.

“While the perpetrators were killing the men in the family, other members (of) families bravely faced this difficult situation. The courage they showed in this entire incident is very valuable. It is not easy to show such courage when our loved ones are being killed right before our eyes. Therefore, the families of the six people who died in this incident should be honoured with the ‘Civil Valor’ award on the occasion of Maharashtra Day on 1st May 2025,” wrote Sule in her letter to Fadnavis.

In a terror attack on tourists on April 22, Sanjay Lele, Hemant Joshi, Atul Mone (all residents of Dombivali), Dilip Disle (Panvel), Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale, residents of Pune, from Maharashtra, died. They were among the 26 killed in the Pahalgam attack.

Sule said one person from each of the six families should be given a job in government services.

“Also, nothing can compensate for what these families lost in this incident, but still, one person from this family should be taken into government service according to educational qualifications. Late Santosh Jagdale’s daughter Asawari is highly educated and it is possible to give her government services according to her educational qualifications. On the same lines, one person from the family of other victims can be admitted to government service according to educational qualifications,” she wrote.

Sule said that the government should give these “brave families” the confidence that the people of Maharashtra will always be with them through this action.
