Virat Kohli’s ‘masterstroke’ comes to Gurgaon — One8 Commune, now at Golf Course Road

Cricketer Virat Kohli’s skill on the pitch is the stuff of legend. He’s been an entertainer with the bat for nearly two decades, turning him into a household name.

Now, the 36-year-old has brought his newest offering to the city of Gurgaon to wow the palates of its residents. His restaurant, one8 Commune, has opened its doors on Golf Course Road.

“Another one — but this isn’t just any new spot. This time, we’re right in the heart of Gurgaon’s most happening hub!” he posted on Instagram four days ago while introducing the latest outlet.

“Gurgaon has a bold energy — it’s modern, fast-moving, and constantly evolving,” he said in a statement. “That’s exactly the spirit we wanted to capture with this space. From the vibe to the food, every detail is designed to bring people together and create unforgettable experiences. I can’t wait for people here to experience what we’ve built.”

The plush resto-bar on the bustling Golf Course Road is nestled amid corporate offices and luxury apartments and is a few hundred metres away from the Sector 42-43 Rapid Metro station.

The decor — terracotta-hued flooring, pendant lights, layered lampshades and white sculptures — gives the multi-level restaurant a rustic and quaint look.

Scan the QR code on the table and a menu pops up on your phone. “Super food salad”, “Mushroom Googly Dim Sum”, “Tartare topped avocado”, “Edamame” and “Avocado Truffle bites” are the options under a drop-down menu called “Virat’s favourites”.

“Close to 80% of the food here is unique. We’re offering the best of both worlds. Premium dishes at relatively affordable pricing,” general manager Karan tells The Indian Express.

“The word commune comes from community. Our menu is heavily based on local cuisine. We want every person in the community to feel like they have a place here,” he adds.
Curated by expert Chef Agnibh Mudi, the menu offers a wide range of possibilities.

The juicy succulent lamb seekh covered with khamiri dough with some garlic gel served along with Rogan gravy; spicy mango Thai curry made from Asian spices served with blue pea rice; a honey grape mocktail made from fresh black seedless grapes cooked with honey and hibiscus tea, and a fudgy twenty-layer Belgian chocolate cake are just some of the options on the diverse menu.
“The Bar and Kitchen have worked in sync to bring something unique to the plate… we also tried to follow the latest trends,” says Mudi.
