Two men linked to notorious gangs held in separate ops in Delhi

A member of the Tillu Tajpuria gang and a man linked to the Rajesh Bawaniya gang were apprehended in separate operations on Monday, said police. Three others allegedly associated with a gambling racket were also held in one of the raids, officers added.,

In the first incident, police arrested Sachin, a 21-time offender and an active member of the Tillu Tajpuria gang, following a report of criminal intimidation at gunpoint. The complaint was lodged by Chander Prakash, a 62-year-old businessman from Alipur, who alleged that Sachin threatened him and his labourers with a pistol over a minor business dispute, said police.

A case was registered under BNS sections 125 and 351(3) along with sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. “During the questioning, Sachin disclosed that he is an active member of the Tillu Tajpuria gang,” said DCP Outer North Nidhin Valsan. Investigation is underway to identify his associates and the weapon’s source, said police.

In another operation, police raided an alleged illegal gambling den in Swatantra Nagar in Narela, based on tip-off. Four men were apprehended while gambling and Rs 1.34 lakh in cash was seized. The accused include Naveen Dahiya (38), Sumit Jha (32), Asif (24), and Harish (19). Naveen was identified as the operator of the racket, allegedly working on behalf of Happy Wazidpuriya, a known associate of the Rajesh Bawaniya gang, said police.

During questioning, Asif allegedly revealed that a personal vendetta led him to join the gang, citing the 2018 killing of his uncle. A case under the Delhi Public Gambling Act has been registered.
