Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced that Tamil Nadu schools will be closed on Tuesday, October 15th owing to the meteorological department’s alert. In post on X, TN CM wrote (origianally in Tamil), “Don’t believe the fake news shared on social media. Follow the guidelines given by the government. Follow proper precautions given by government officials.”
Additional notices were attached in the tweet which confirmed that schools have been shut on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in four districts of Tamil Nadu, namely, Chennai, Chengalpet, Thiruvallur, and Kancheepuram.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for tomorrow and a Red Alert for the following day. In consideration of student safety, authorities have declared a school holiday for tomorrow in Chennai, Chengalpet, Thiruvallur, and Kancheepuram districts.
Despite a Yellow Alert being in effect for today, the district collector confirmed that schools and colleges will remain open. However, schools in all four districts, including Chennai, will be closed tomorrow, October 15. The decision regarding a potential holiday on Wednesday will be made based on tomorrow’s weather conditions.
Additonally, the notice issued by the TN CM advised IT companies to allow ‘work from home’ for all employees between October 15th and 17th.
