Another controversy broke out in Maharashtra just a day before the Assembly elections in the state as the Bharatiya Janata Party lambasted the Maha Vikas Aghadi over Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi's meeting with the controversial Islamic cleric Mufti Salman Azhari. Mumbai: Former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has claimed that the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti government’s Ladki Bahin scheme won’t have any impact on the state assembly elections Wednesday, saying the scheme was more about an “owner-slave” relation with the state’s women voters rather than a “brother-sister”’ bond. Ladki Bahin literally translates to ‘beloved sister’. “Ladki Bahin will not have much of an impact because people have started understanding the intention behind the scheme,” Thackeray told ThePrint in an interview.  He added: “They think that by giving Rs 1500 per month, all women have become their slaves. Maharashtra Elections: Sharad Pawar’s Bags Checked By Poll Officials In Baramati

NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar's bags were checked in Maharashtra's Pune district on Sunday morning, his associate said, just days ahead of the November 20 elections in the state. Pawar was on way to attend a poll rally in Solapur when his bags were checked at Baramati helipad. The model of code of conduct is enforced in the state for the assembly elections. "While Pawar saheb was on his way to the Karmala poll rally in Solapur, his bags were checked at the Baramati helipad.
