Govt plans to build 62,500km of rural roads by 2029 – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a plan to provide all-weather connectivity to 25,000 rural habitations by building 62,500 km of roads and construction and upgradation of bridges between 2024 to 2029 under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV.The total outlay will be Rs 70,125 crore, including a central share of Rs 49,087.5 crore and state share of Rs 21,037.5 crore.Already 7.66 lakh km of roads in rural areas has been constructed. Under Phase-IV, govt seeks to pave the way for infrastructure development in the remotest villages, including those in hilly terrains, far-flung areas in the North-east and those along borders.
