New Delhi: Canadian MP Jagmeet Singh, the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) and a former ally of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has called for more diplomatic sanctions against India and a ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the aftermath of Ottawa’s decision to “expel” six Indian diplomats over alleged links to violence in Canada. In a statement, the Indo-Canadian politician said he supported the decision to “expel Indian diplomats” – among them High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma – and called on the Canadian government “yet again to put diplomat sanctions against India in place, ban the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Canada, and commit to pursuing the most severe consequences for anyone found to have participated in organised criminal activity on Canadian soil”....

After sitting out LS polls, RSS campaigning hard for BJP in Haryana. ‘Not the time for anger’

Kurukshetra/Gurugram: “The socially aware understand that caste politics breaks society. It is the duty of responsible people to maintain unity and brotherhood,” a pamphlet being distributed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) karyakartas in every household in Kurukshetra district of Haryana reads. “One has been speaking, complaining, questioning for 4 years, 11 months and 364 days. If one does not go to vote the one remaining day, they have no right to speak, complain or question.” On the face of it, the pamphlet is politically neutral. It does not ask the voter to cast their vote in favour of any one political party. Titled Matdata Jagrukta Abhiyan: 100% matdan (voter awareness programme—100 percent voting), its appeal is seemingly straightforward—it is the duty of every voter to cast t...

Sangh Parivar | The saffron churn

On September 2, as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) wrapped up its Akhil Bharatiya Samanvay Baithak, the three-day national coordination meeting of affiliate organisations, prachar pramukh Sunil Ambekar’s press conference was buzzing with reporters. And he didn’t disappoint, picking the opportunity to, as one participant put it, “drop a couple of bombs”. For one, he clarified that the Sangh was in favour of the contentious national caste census (with riders, of course) and, two, he made a public admission of unresolved “issues” between the RSS and its ideological offspring, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which rules at the Centre.Source link
