Cannes Film Festival prohibits eating in screening rooms, with an ‘exception made for people with diabetes’

The 78th Cannes Film Festival lifted its curtains on May 13, 2025, and the length and breadth of the entertainment industry is excited to be a part of the prestigious event. The governing body, however, issued its official charter a day before, listing a new set of updated dress code regulations and diabetes-friendly dietary rules to follow on the carpet and beyond. On the fashion front, the axe fell on voluptuous gowns with long trains and skin-show. “For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the Red Carpet, as well as in any other area of the Festival. Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted,” read the document. Are eggs the ‘most overrated health food’ in the world?

Nutritionally, eggs are a complete protein source, offering all essential amino acids. While often labelled a “superfood” due to their nutrient density, some consider eggs overrated, especially those concerned about chronic diseases, cholesterol, or pathogen exposure. Curious, Indianexpress.com turned to a health expert to understand whether such claims have any merit. Where did the confusion stem from? Umang Malhotra, clinical dietitian at Fitelo, told indianexpress.com that eggs are one of the most widely consumed and debated health foods in the world. “The controversy around eggs feeding pathogens stems mainly from theories in alternative health communities, suggesting that certain components in eggs such as growth factors and specific proteins could potentially support the growth of...

‘First thing I have is…’: When Milind Soman gave us a peek into his diet during supermodel days

A simple scroll through Milind Soman’s social media page will reflect his love for simple food and dedication to fitness. But it’s not something new; in an episode of Ek Din Ek Jeevan, hosted by Tavleen Singh on STAR Plus, the model-turned-actor once shared some insight into his diet tailored to his specific needs and goals during his supermodel days. Inside a supermodel’s diet “I don’t drink tea or coffee. The first thing I have is fruit juice. From a young age, I did not develop a habit of drinking tea or coffee. I recall reading somewhere in my childhood that these are bad for one’s health. Usually, models drink a lot of tea and coffee, maybe even 15 to 20 cups a day. They smoke cigarettes and consume alcohol – because of stress, maybe, people get into these habits,” shared Soman. When ...

Could changing your diet improve endometriosis pain? Recent study suggests it’s possible

Endometriosis affects around 10% of women of reproductive age. It’s a chronic inflammatory condition that occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) grows outside the uterus. Endometriosis can cause chronic pain, bloating, bowel and bladder dysfunction, pain during sex and infertility. These symptoms can lead to reduced quality of life and mental health challenges. Although endometriosis pain can be treated with medication or surgery, these options are not suitable for everyone, and a significant number of women experience recurrent symptoms even after surgery. Many women with endometriosis look to complementary therapies to manage their symptoms, which can include dietary changes and taking supplements. Story continues below this ad A recent ...

Bill Gates supports weight loss drugs, suggests ways to tackle obesity

Obesity is a problem money cannot fix, believes Bill Gates, who advocates undertaking certain behavioural modifications along with the use of weight loss drugs to tackle this condition. In a recent conversation with podcaster Raj Shamani, the American businessman spoke about the importance of GLP-1 drugs that mimic a natural hormone in the body to regulate blood sugar and appetite, along with lifestyle changes necessary to keep the obesity pandemic in check. “The most promising is a class of drugs called these GLP-1 drugs that are going to go off patent to become cheap. I’m always a little ‘over-focused’ on a scientific solution. So, maybe a combination of that behaviour change and the new tools. But behaviour change is hard; we haven’t succeeded in that as much as we’d like to,” said the ...
