Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 Sees Highest Turnout Since 1995

Voter turnout in Maharashtra during the recent assembly elections was the highest ever in 30 years. Over 65.1% of the eligible voters turned out to cast their ballots, as per the figures at 11:45 PM on Wednesday. This marks a significant increase compared to previous elections, including the 61.39% recorded during this year's Lok Sabha polls and the 61.4% from the 2019 assembly elections. Notably, this is the highest turnout since 1995, when it reached 71.69%. The high-octane campaigning and reservation issues, combined with the allegations of corruption, in all likelihood, boosted the voter turnout. Mahayuti likely to retain power in Maharashtra, exit polls predict

Mumbai: The ruling Mahayuti is poised to retain power in Maharashtra with the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) also putting up a strong show in assembly polls, most exit poll predicted on Wednesday after conclusion of polling on 288 seats in the state. According to Republic TV-PMARQ exit poll, the Mahayuti alliance could win 137-157 seats whereas the Maha Vikas Aghadi could get 126-147 seats and others 2-8 seats. Supriya Sule Files Cyber Fraud Complaint Against Ex-IPS Officer Over Crypto Misappropriation Cl

Just hours ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule on Tuesday filed a cyber fraud complaint with the Election Commission against former IPS officer Ravindranath Patil after he accused her of being involved in a cryptocurrency scam. He had also alleged State Congress President Nana Patole's involvement in the alleged scam. The Bharatiya Janata Party had also levelled scam allegations against Sule and Patole after the former IPS officer accused the MVA leaders of using misappropriated bitcoins from an alleged 2018 cryptocurrency fraud case to fund the ongoing Maharashtra polls. Stage Set For Mahayuti Vs MVA Battle In Maharashtra, Polling For Final Phase In Jharkhand Tomor

The Maharashtra Assembly polls will be held on November 20, with the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance vying to retain power, while the opposition's Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) hopes for a strong comeback. Voting for the 288 seats will begin at 7 AM and end at 6 PM. The counting of votes will be done on November 23. Simultaneously, polls will also be held in 38 remaining Assembly seats in Jharkhand in its second and final phase. The polling will begin at 7 AM and will continue till 5 PM barring 31 booths where it will end at 4 PM. Hours before Maharashtra votes, a regional party has accused BJP leaders, including general secretary and former minister Vinod Tawde, of distributing cash at a hotel in Virar in Palghar district.The Bahujan Vikas Aghadi has alleged that BJP candidate from Nalasopara Rajan Naik was distributing cash, allegedly to influence voters, in the presence of Mr Tawde.
