‘Ludicrous’: MEA Dismisses Canadian Report Alleging PM Modi Was Aware Of Nijjar Murder Plot

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday strongly dismissed a Canadian report wherein the country's official alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was aware of a plot to kill pro-Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Calling the claims "ludicrous," the MEA said such assertions further damage the already strained diplomatic ties between India and Canada.   "We do not normally comment on media reports. However, such ludicrous statements made to a newspaper purportedly by a Canadian government source should be dismissed with the contempt they deserve. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday arrived in Nigeria on the first leg of his three-nation visit at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. India to seek Khalistan Tiger Force ‘de facto chief’ Arsh Dalla’s extradition after arrest in Canada

New Delhi: India will seek extradition of proclaimed offender and designated terrorist Arshdeep Singh Gill alias Arsh Dalla from Canada following his arrest by local police there in light of a gangland shooting. “In view of the recent arrest, our agencies will be following up on an extradition request. Given Arsh Dalla’s criminal record in India and his involvement in similar illegal activities in Canada, it is expected that he will be extradited or deported to face justice in India,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement Thursday. Government sources said now that it has been established that Gill is indeed in Canada and has been arrested, India will file for an extradition.
