Manipur Govt Extends Mobile Internet Suspension In 7 Districts After Restoring Broadband Servic

The Manipur government has extended the suspension of mobile internet services for three more days in seven districts, citing concerns over law and order. The measure, initially imposed on 16 November, aimed to curb the spread of inflammatory content amid escalating violence.   In an order issued on Wednesday, the state government stated that mobile internet services would remain suspended in Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur, and Kangpokpi, news agency PTI reported. Manipur: Govt Rushes 50 Additional CAPF Companies Amid Worsening Violence; NIA Begins Probe Int

The Union government has ordered the deployment of 50 additional Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies, comprising over 5,000 personnel, to Manipur, in response to the state's deteriorating security and law and order situation, official sources said on Monday, as per news agency PTI. The move follows an earlier deployment of 20 CAPF companies, including 15 from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and five from the Border Security Force (BSF), sent to the state on November 12 after violence erupted in Jiribam and spread to other regions. Of the newly ordered reinforcements, 35 units will be drawn from the CRPF and the remaining from the BSF. As violence continues to rock Manipur, a protester was shot dead during a clash between a mob and security forces in the Jiribam district on Sunday. The mob was reportedly vandalising property when the clash erupted.  Police confirmed that one person was killed in the firing, but it was not immediately clear who had opened fire, according to a PTI report. Eyewitnesses claimed that the firing came from the direction of the security forces. As per the report, the agitators were vandalising property at Babupara in the Jiribam police station area in protest against the abduction of six women and children by militants from a relief camp last Monday.
