Pune: Vikram Pardeshi, a 44-year-old resident of Pune, showcased remarkable determination by voting in the Maharashtra assembly elections Wednesday despite suffering multiple fractures while saving a man from falling 40 feet, reports Joy Sengupta. He arrived at the polling booth in a wheelchair with bandaged limbs.A trained life-saver with Rashtriya Life Saving Society, he suffered his injuries on Oct 3 while rescuing a man dangling from a balcony. Although he successfully saved the man, he fell during the effort. Pardeshi was advised complete rest after five surgeries, but he prioritised voting.Overcoming an uneven ramp, he limped into the booth. "Nothing can stop me from voting. If I don't vote, I shouldn't be expecting any change and shouldn't complain," he said.Source link

Mumbai: Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) workers, led by party chief Hitendra Thakur and son Kshitij, clashed with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at a hotel in Nalasopara in Mumbai’s outskirts Tuesday after claiming that they caught BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde ‘red-handed’ distributing cash a day ahead of polling. BVA workers alleged that Tawde was carrying Rs 5 crore in cash for distribution to consolidate votes in the area for BJP’s Nalasopara candidate Rajan Naik. The altercation broke out when BVA workers interrupted Tawde’s meeting with BJP workers and snatched his bag of cash away. Some BJP workers only allegedly “tipped them off”. Mumbai: The ruling Mahayuti is poised to retain power in Maharashtra with the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) also putting up a strong show in assembly polls, most exit poll predicted on Wednesday after conclusion of polling on 288 seats in the state. According to Republic TV-PMARQ exit poll, the Mahayuti alliance could win 137-157 seats whereas the Maha Vikas Aghadi could get 126-147 seats and others 2-8 seats.
