Aditya Tare out of Ranji Trophy semis; UP add Mohsin Khan | Cricket News – Times of India

MUMBAI: In a blow to Mumbai ahead of their Ranji Trophy semifinal against Uttar Pradesh from June 14 at the Just Cricket Academy in Bangalore, former captain and wicketkeeper Aditya Tare has been ruled out of the match due to a fracture in the middle finger of his left hand. The 34-year-old has been replaced by Prasad Pawar, who made his debut for Mumbai during the Vijay Hazare Trophy earlier this season, in the squad. Tare’s absence, though, means that Hardik Tamore is set to get his spot in the XI. Tare injured his finger while going for a catch down the leg side off pacer Tushar Deshpande. The experienced glovesman had scored 1 & 57 in Mumbai’s 725-run quarterfinal against Uttarakhand. Overall, Tare has played 80 first-class matches, and scored 4523 runs@36.77, with nine hundreds...

Rajat Patidar: It wasn’t in my control that I wasn’t picked at the auction, says RCB’s Rajat Patidar | Cricket News – Times of India

The winners of the Eliminator will now meet Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2, which will decide who faces Gujarat Titans in the final. "I was busy after the 2021 IPL playing for my club. IPL 2022: Dropping easy catches never helps, Rajat Patidar made the difference for RCB, says LSG skipper KL Rahul | Cricket News – Times of India

KOLKATA: A dejected Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul blamed sloppy fielding for his team's 14-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL Eliminator while acknowledging Rajat Patidar's brilliant hundred being the difference between the two teams. The 28-year-old Indore man Patidar scored a 54-ball 112 not out to singlehandedly win the IPL Eliminator for RCB. "I think it's quite obvious - the reasons why we didn't win. We let ourselves down in the field. Dropping easy catches never helps. Difference was obviously Patidar playing such a knock. When someone in the top three scores a hundred, more often the team wins," Rahul said after the match. Patidar was dropped thrice on the day en route his hundred and Rahul was livid with his team's fielding. "T...

This season's Orange Cap holder Buttler, who now has 718 runs in 15 games, initially failed to time the ball and was 39 off his first 38 balls. But the opener shifted gears in style and smacked another 50 off his next 18 deliveries faced to lift RR's total to a challenging 188/6. "I was determined to hang in there. It was a big game for us and we wanted to make sure to put a big score," Buttler said at the post-match press conference after RR's seven-wicket loss to GT on Tuesday. Will Deepak Hooda, who had fought with Krunal last year, play for Baroda again?

Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) is trying to convince Deepak Hooda to come back and represent Baroda again in the forthcoming domestic season. Hooda had moved to Rajasthan last season after his spat with the Baroda skipper Krunal Pandya during the 2020-21 season. Both have since patched up, and even played for the same IPL team. A BCA official said the association now is trying to convince Hooda to come back to his state. “Whatever has happened, has happened. We are trying to convince Hooda to come back and play for Baroda again. He too has now patched up with Krunal, so there is no reason left for not coming back to Baroda. We had already expressed our interest in him and it will be his decision. We are hoping that he agrees to it,” a BCA official told The Indian Express. Krunal ...

NEW DELHI: The Sunrisers Hyderabad-Punjab Kings contest on Sunday marked the conclusion of the league phase of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. A total of 70 matches were played since March 26 and this year's cricketing extravaganza was no different than its predecessors -- bringing out the highest quality of cricket almost every single evening over the last one and a half months. Restricted to just 4 venues due to Covid, the groundsmen at the Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune did a fantastic job to ensure that the pitches, which had to be reused, did not bring down the quality of cricket. Balls disappearing into the stands, stumps cartwheeling and fielders defying gravity, taking supernatura...

IPL 2022: Quinton de Kock knew he would make it count the day he got going, says LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya | Cricket News – Times of India

NAVI MUMBAI: A bit of frustration came out in Quinton de Kock's uncharacteristic celebration after his blazing hundred against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here. At the post-match press conference on Wednesday, Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) assistant coach Vijay Dahiya cited the possible reason behind the charged-up celebration by the South African opener. "I will speak about Quinton. Sometimes he got runs, sometimes he didn't (in the ongoing IPL). When we practiced, or when he was knocking or taking throw-downs, he was always saying he never felt so good and how come it happened that he wasn't able to score," Dahiya said. "He also said the day he got going, he would make it count and he did that today (Wednesday night). And the way they (De Kock and KL R...

Haven't been many games that have gone down to the last ball, maybe some which went to the last over. Happy to be on the other side.
