Badminton: Irwansyah, Indonesia’s singles coach, says he has accepted a job offer to coach in India
Indonesian badminton coach Irwansyah, who has been the long-time singles coach for the badminton powerhouses, has said he has accepted an offer from India after his contract ran down with Persatuan Bulutangkis Seluruh Indonesia (PBSI, the country’s badminton federation). Irwansyah is credited with the rise of men’s singles stars Jonatan Christie and Anthony Ginting, who have both been as high as No 2 in the world.
“PBSI as my employer did not send me to the China Masters & Superseries Final Championship without informing me,” Irwansyah was quoted as saying in a written statement by CNN Indonesia. “And until now there is no clarity and reason why I was not sent and included to accompany the players, then I decided to accept one of the offers from abroad,” said Irwansyah. “I wanted to tr...
