The Delhi government will deploy specialised sewer cleaning machines before the onset of monsoon to prevent waterlogging, Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said on Sunday. The department will also use CCTV cameras to verify that the desilting of drains has been completed. Delhi saw unprecedented flooding last year during the monsoons, with three UPSC aspirants dying as the basement of a coaching centre in Rajinder Nagar filled up with water. Singh alleged that most of the drains and naalas in Delhi were not desilted for the past 10-20 years.
