Delhi: Man jumps from metro station, hospitalised

A man was captured on video jumping from the elevated Mayur Vihar 1 Metro station, on to the road below, on Monday afternoon. The man, whom the police identified as Vikram Sharma (45) — a resident of Katwaria Sarai, who works in a Gurgaon-based private telecommunications company – has been hospitalised. The video, which has been shared widely on social media, shows Sharma climbing down the platform’s guardrails and scaling the wall below before leaping towards the road below. The police said they received a call from the station controller saying that a man was hanging over the platform’s side in the station for about half an hour. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to introduce the country’s first Metro corridor designed to operate with three-coach trains on the upcoming Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block line.Part of Phase IV of the Delhi Metro expansion, this corridor aka Brown Line will be the second shortest in the network at 8 km, according to a DMRC spokesperson. The corridor is still in the planning stage. The shortest corridor is the Grey Line from Dwarka to Dhansa Bus Stand — 5.19-km-long. Delhi Metro users can now book Rapido rides through Metro app. Check out the details

Now, Delhi Metro commuters will be able to book bike taxis and auto-rickshaws for first- and last-mile connectivity, along with Metro tickets, in a single transaction. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced this feature through its DMRC Sarthi-Momentum 2.0 app, which aims to streamline urban commuting by eliminating the need for multiple bookings, according to a Metro spokesperson. This feature was developed in collaboration with Autope Payment Solutions Ltd., and DMRC has partnered with Rapido for bike taxis and auto-rickshaws. New Delhi: The Delhi Metro, the longest mass rapid transit system in India, became the centre of political debate ahead of the upcoming assembly elections after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday, demanding a 50 percent concession for students on metro fares.
