Delhi Pollution: LG VK Saxena Orders Staggered Office Timings For Govt, MCD Employees Until Feb

Delhi's Lieutenant-Governor, VK Saxena, on Monday issued an order directing the implementation of staggered office timings as part of measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to combat severe air pollution during the winter months. The new timings will be effective until 28th February 2025 and will apply to all offices under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). According to the order, offices under the MCD will operate from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, while offices under GNCTD will function from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Delhi Air Quality Worsens To ‘Severe Plus’ Category, AQI Above 700 In Some Places

The air quality in New Delhi worsened to the 'severe plus' category with the real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) exceeding 400 in most places in the national capital. The AQI was highest in Najafgarh at 748, while Dwarka recorded 705, and Gurugram saw an AQI of 714. An AQI between 401 and 500 is considered "severe" and anything beyond 500 is "severe-plus emergency". The areas around Lutyens' Delhi saw a lower AQI comparatively, however, it remained under the 'severe plus' category. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium saw an AQI of 418, while Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, near India Gate, recorded 481 and it was 592 at the US Embassy in Chanakyapuri.
