Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) Tuesday shifted all flights operating out of Terminal 2, which is temporarily shut down for maintenance to increase passenger capacity, to Terminal 1. IndiGo and Akasa Air, the two airlines operating out of Terminal 2, have notified passengers about the reassignment of flights via email, WhatsApp, and their websites. Approximately 270 flights and 50,000 passengers arriving and departing daily from Terminal 2 have been shifted to the newly operational Terminal 1 since Tuesday morning. Budget airline IndiGo announced that all its flights will now be operated from Terminal 1 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport starting Tuesday. The budget carrier’s flight operations are being moved to Terminal 1 as Terminal 2 is undergoing maintenance. Passengers at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi faced massive delays and disruptions to their journeys from Friday evening till Saturday morning due to a dust storm and rainfall in the National Capital on Friday evening. According to Flightradar24, a live flight-tracking website, 439 arriving flights and 507 departing flights were delayed on Friday. As of Saturday noon, 40 per cent of the departing flights from Delhi airport were delayed by an average of 44 minutes. “Poor weather, caused by heavy thunderstorms and gusty winds, has affected flight operations across parts of Northern India. Tourists, business travellers, and others who want to visit the Taj Mahal can now take a luxury bus to Agra from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) Monday stated while announcing the launch of the service. DIAL said in a statement that the service will run twice daily in both directions, and has been launched in collaboration with private operator RIGI Trans Tech Pvt Ltd.
