The new Sri Lankan Cabinet will take their oaths on Monday before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, as announced by his media office.
Under Dissanayake’s leadership, the National People’s Power secured a commanding two-thirds majority in Thursday’s parliamentary elections, including a significant victory in the Tamil-dominated Jaffna electoral district.
“The swearing-in of the new Cabinet of the government will take place tomorrow (18) at 10:00 am at the Presidential Secretariat, in the presence of President @anuradisanayake,” stated the President’s Media Division on X.

The inaugural session of the 10th Parliament is scheduled for November 21.
Constitutional Article 46 stipulates a maximum of 30 Cabinet ministers and 40 deputy ministers.
The NPP’s commitment to reducing government expenditure aligns with their advocacy for a smaller administration, PTI reported.
Following the NPP’s presidential victory in September, the administration operated with only three ministers, including the President.
The NPP’s parliamentary election success has established several unprecedented achievements.
They secured 61.56 per cent of total votes, surpassing the previous record of 60.33 per cent held by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s party in 2010.
The party claimed victory in 152 out of 168 polling divisions, exceeding Rajapaksa’s previous record of 136.
They won 21 out of 22 districts, surpassing Rajapaksa’s 2010 record of 19.
The NPP now holds 159 parliamentary seats, exceeding Rajapaksa’s 145 in 2020.
They became the first party to exceed 150 seats under the proportional representation system, achieving a two-thirds absolute majority.
