The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has announced an initiative to provide affordable healthcare services in 34 residential colonies under its jurisdiction in Mumbai under the Aapla Davakhana scheme. The clinics will offer medical consultations for just one rupee, while diagnostic services, including blood tests and diabetes checks, will be accessible for Rs 10.
The healthcare initiative, launched on the direction of state Housing Minister Eknath Shinde, aims to extend the services to residents of these areas as well as the general public.
The housing authority has joined hands with Magicdil Health for All, an organisation which runs the One Rupee Clinic, to implement the scheme. “The agreement was formalised at MHADA’s Bandra headquarters in the presence of CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, senior officials and representatives of the One Rupee Clinic,” a spokesperson for the authority said.
Each clinic will be allocated a space of 400 square feet within MHADA residential colonies in various locations, including Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Chembur, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Kandivali, Sion, Andheri, Bandra, Juhu, Kurla, and Borivali. “By establishing these clinics, MHADA aims to enhance healthcare access for thousands of residents while extending services to the broader community,” the spokesperson added.
