'Pushpa 2' makers express heartbreak over Hyderabad stampede, Extend support to victim's family

Allu Arjun‘s surprise appearance at the screening of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ in Hyderabad took a tragic turn on December 4, 2024, when a stampede occurred, which led to the death of a 35-year-old woman and left her nine-year-old son critically injured at the Sandhya Theatre. Now the makers of the film shared their their sorrow on social media.
The makers extended their thoughts and prayers to the grieving family and assured their commitment to providing support during this difficult time. They took X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment. We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time. Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre around 10:30 PM where to get his glimpse the crowd escalated, leading to a chaotic rush towards the entrance. Unfortunately, this created a stampede-like situation, overwhelming security measures. The police had to resort to lathi charges to control the crowd, but it was too late for Revathi and her son, Sri Tej. They were jostled and fell to the ground amid the chaos.
Revathi was rushed to Durga Bhai Deshmukh Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Her son was subsequently transferred to KIMS Hospital in Begumpet, where he remains in critical condition. The police reported that Revathi’s husband and their daughter managed to escape with minor injuries.

On the other hand, ‘Pushpa 2’ has opened to a blockbuster response at the box office. The film has already broken records with its advance bookings, selling over 31 lakh tickets worth approximately Rs 105.67 crore across various formats and locations in India. Directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa 2’ stars Allu Arjun as Pushpa Raj alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil.
