NEW DELHI: As the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and India approaches, Indian batsman Sarfaraz Khan praised Rohit Sharma and stated that the captain doesn’t treat anyone like a junior.
Sarfaraz played his first Test match against England earlier this year. He scored 200 runs at a strike rate of 79.37 in three long-format matches for India.
Sarfaraz captured everyone’s attention with a brilliant 62-run knock off 66 balls in his maiden outing.He was summoned recently for the impending Test match against Bangladesh.
On September 19, at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, India and Bangladesh will begin their two-match series. Kanpur will host the second long-format match on September 27. Head coach Gautam Gambhir will be motivated to win a series in his debut Test assignment.
In an interview with Jio Cinema, Sarfaraz claimed that Rohit Sharma is unique and always treats everyone as though he is their elder brother.
“He’s very different, makes you comfortable and is like an elder brother to us. I enjoy playing with him. He never treats you like a junior. He’s a positive guy. The way he speaks, it boosts your confidence,” Sarfaraz said, as per ANI.
“Lagaan is my favourite movie. In that, the way Aamir Khan assembles his team, Rohit bhai reminds me of that. For me, he’s Lagaan’s Aamir Khan. It feels like he’s part of your family,” he added.
The Test team will continue to be led by Rohit Sharma. Dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has made his Test cricket comeback for the first time since his potentially fatal accident in December 2022, while pacers Akash Deep and Yash Dayal were called up for the first time.
