NEW DELHI: Pakistan secured a convincing nine-wicket victory against Australia, with Haris Rauf‘s exceptional bowling performance of five wickets bringing the series to 1-1 in the second one-day international at Adelaide Oval on Friday.
On a suitable batting surface, Rauf achieved figures of 5-29, marking his second five-wicket haul in ODIs, as Pakistan dismissed the world champions Australia for 163 runs in 35 overs, their lowest ODI total against Pakistan.
Pakistan’s new white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan demonstrated exceptional wicketkeeping skills, contributing to six dismissals, matching the global record for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in a one-day international.
Rizwan missed an opportunity for a seventh dismissal when he failed to hold onto a high catch from Adam Zampa towards the end of Australia’s innings.
Pakistan successfully chased down the target in 26.3 overs, with Saim Ayub scoring 82 runs and establishing a substantial 137-run opening partnership with Abdullah Shafique.
Following Pakistan’s dominant victory, their prominent batsman Fakhar Zaman shared his congratulations to the team on social media.
“What a massive win. Huge congrats to the boys! Hats off to @HarisRauf14 and Saim Ayub for their incredible performances! They really brought their A-game! @iShaheenAfridi,” Fakhar Zaman
The two teams will now face each other in the third and final ODI in Perth on Sunday.
