The launch event of the book, Handbook Of Cricket Psychology, co-authored by K. Srinath and M.N. Viswanath, brought together cricket stars from Karnataka and beyond.

Former India players W.V. Raman, S. Aravind, Dodda Ganesh and Sudhakar Rao were some of the popular names who graced the occasion here on Friday.

The evening began with a lively panel discussion featuring Srinath, Viswanath, Raman and veteran cricket writer R. Kaushik.

Camaraderie

Srinath had turned out for Karnataka in the early 1990s, before moving and representing Tamil Nadu. Raman spoke about the camaraderie that existed in that era between players of the neighbouring States. “In those days, players from both teams stayed in the same hotel. Anyone could end up in any room. We fought hard on the field, but in the evenings, it was time to socialise,” Raman said.

Srinath, now a BCCI umpire, explained that moving from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu was a great challenge. “I had to be mentally strong to switch over. However, I can now say I spent a fabulous 19 years in the city of Chennai,” Srinath said.

The session was moderated by sports consultant and cricket writer, Satish Viswanathan.
