US Election Results: Republican Donald Trump is set to become the 47th president of the United States pulling off an incredible comeback after wresting 291 electoral college votes against Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ 223 in a fierce contest.
Trump rose from the political wilderness four years after his eviction from the White House and a failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election outcome. He faced two assassination attempts, his criminal conviction, pending criminal charges and a campaign that appeared to divide the country into two different worldviews.
Trump is the first president after Grover Cleveland 132 years ago to be evicted from the White House and return to it four years later. As the trends showed Trump leading, the Internet started sharing memes about the historic win.
