NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2024 results by the end of this week. The challenge period for the answer key concluded on Tuesday night, and the final answer key is likely to be released on Thursday.
NTA had released the provisional answer key on Sunday, after a delay of over a week.It also announced plans to conduct a retest for CUET-UG candidates from July 15 to 19 if any grievances submitted by candidates by June 30 are found to be valid.
An NTA official stated, “The results are likely to be announced this week after the final answer key is prepared. Subject experts are currently reviewing the challenges to the provisional key, and it should be ready by Thursday or Friday. Following that, it will take between 24 to 48 hours to tabulate the results after making any necessary corrections due to changes in the answer key.”
For the first time, the CUET-UG was conducted in a hybrid mode. However, the exam in Delhi was cancelled the night before due to logistical reasons and was rescheduled later. This year, over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the entrance test for admission to undergraduate courses in 261 central, state, deemed, and private universities.
The NTA is also addressing grievances regarding the CUET-UG exam and is committed to retesting these candidates at selected centres, according to the official.
To facilitate the commencement of the undergraduate admissions at the earliest, the agency has decided to announce the results in two parts. An NTA source said: “After a discussion with different stakeholders, including the University Grants Commission and universities, considering that there could be a retest for some candidates, it has been decided that the results will be announced this week. The results of the retest will be announced later this month. Since CUET-UG does not issue an all-India merit list and individual subject scores are sent to universities for counselling, announcing the results this way will not pose an issue. As the number of retest candidates is small, announcing the results for the majority of aspirants will help participating universities plan their admissions.”
