NEW DELHI: As reported by Timesofindia.com, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have retained Ruturaj Gaikwad, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and the legendary MS Dhoni, ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in November.
MS Dhoni falls under the category of uncapped player as he hasn’t been a part of the starting XI in an international match in the last five years and last played for India in the 2019 ODI World Cup.

Here’s what CSK spent to retain the above-mentioned players:
Retention 1: Ruturaj Gaikwad for INR 18 Crore
Retention 2: Matheesha Pathirana for INR 13 Crore
Retention 3: Shivam Dube for INR 12 Crore
Retention 4: Ravindra Jadeja for INR 18 Crore
Retention 5: MS Dhoni for INR 4 Crore
The sum of the above, INR 65, will be deducted from the total auction purse of INR 120 crore for IPL 2025.
According to the IPL Player Regulations released by the IPL Governing Council earlier, the IPL franchises were allowed to retain a total of six players from their existing squad (a maximum of five capped players and a maximum of 2 uncapped players) either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option during the auction.
