In a significant setback for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested him in connection with the alleged excise policy scam. This comes after the Delhi High Court stayed a trial court order that had granted him bail in a related money laundering case.
Kejriwal, who has been in Tihar Jail since March following an Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrest, was taken into CBI custody on Monday. The CBI is scheduled to present him before the court on Wednesday, 26th June.

Earlier, the CBI had interrogated Kejriwal in Tihar Jail and recorded his statement concerning the excise policy case. The High Court, on Tuesday, underscored the need for serious consideration of the ED’s contentions against the trial court’s decision to grant bail.
