The BJP members in the committee on Waqf Bill has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking suspension of TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee from Lok Sabha.
In a letter to the Speaker, the BJP MPs referred to Kalyan Banerjee’s conduct at the parliamentary committee meeting to the ethics panel and called for considering rescinding his membership.
The development comes a day after a meeting of the Joint Committee on Waqf Bill where Kalyan Banerjee entered into an argument with BJP’s Abhijit Gangopadhyay and smashed a glass water bottle and threw it towards the Chair while injuring his fingers.
The TMC MP was suspended for one day from the parliamentary committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. Banerjee ended up with cuts on the thumb and the little finger in his right hand as a stunned Pal adjourned the meeting.
