On the latest episode of Beyond The Boundary, host Chetan Narula discussed the opening day’s play between India and New Zealand in the second Test. Joining him to mull over India’s playing XI and a momentous day for Washington Sundar were Times of India‘s Gaurav Gupta, Manuja Veerappa and Sahil Malhotra.
The panel, understandably, lauded Sundar’s outstanding bowling performance, which helped India dismiss New Zealand for 259 runs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.Sundar, who came in for Kuldeep Yadav, claimed seven wickets for 59 runs, supported by Ravichandran Ashwin, who took three wickets.

New Zealand’s innings featured Devon Conway’s solid 76 and Rachin Ravindra’s 65.
In response, India ended the day at 16 for 1, with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease after losing captain Rohit Sharma for a duck.
The day was marked by strong individual performances as New Zealand struggled against India’s spin attack.
India made three changes to their playing XI for the Test — KL Rahul has been left out, while fit-again Shubman Gill returned to the playing side. In-form Sarfaraz Khan, who scored 150 runs in the second innings at Bengaluru in the first Test, kept his spot.
For New Zealand, pacer Matt Henry missed out due to an injury, with left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner came into the playing XI.
