ABP Southern Rising Summit 2024: The highly anticipated ‘Southern Rising Summit’ by ABP Network is back for its second edition. This year’s event, themed ‘Coming of Age: Identity, Inspiration, Impact,’ is set to take place in Hyderabad on October 25. The event kicked off at around 10:30 am and throughout the day it will focus on the political, cultural, economic, and social progress of India’s southern states, bringing together changemakers and visionaries from the New South to explore the region’s remarkable journey towards a promising future.

Dhurba Mukherjee, Director, ABP Network, delivered the keynote address after the Telangana Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp. Mukherjee, while delivering the keynote address said, “If a child is born in South India, then it is highly likely that the child will celebrate its first birthday without losing her mother at childbirth.” He then talked about how South India has contributed to the growth of India. He said, “Today when it comes to health, education and economic performance indicators, South India’s average is way ahead than the national average.”

South India’s Contribution To India

South India, home to nearly one-fifth of the country’s population, has consistently led in advancing India’s growth. The region currently contributes 31% of the national GDP—a figure anticipated to climb to 35% by 2030—underscoring its significant role in India’s economic fabric.

The Southern Rising Summit, first held in Chennai in 2023, brought together influential voices to celebrate the ideas shaping South India. This year’s edition continues that mission, delving into the region’s distinct cultural, economic, and political strides that have fueled national progress. Among the event’s key speakers, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will discuss the state’s development trajectory, while former BRS government minister KT Rama Rao will explore the evolving role of the opposition in Telangana’s political scene.
