THE BULANDSHAHR Police on Saturday arrested three men for their alleged involvement in raping a teenage girl inside a moving car a few days ago, officers said, adding that the suspects were nabbed after an encounter.
Superintendent of Police, Bulandhshahr, Dinesh Kumar Singh claimed, “We found that another girl — the complainant’s friend — who was allegedly thrown out of the moving car by the accused at the time of the crime, later died due to injuries suffered in the fall. All necessary legal action is being taken by the Meerut Police in this regard.”
According to the police, “Around 2:30 pm on Saturday, in the Arnia Police station area, on the Bulandshahr-Aligarh Highway, a shootout happened between the three accused and a police team of Khurja Nagar and Arnia, in which two of the suspects were injured and sent to a hospital for treatment,” said Additional Superintendent of Police, Bulandhshahr, Naresh Kumar.
Kumar identified the suspects as Sandeep Singh, 23, Amit, 22, residents of Surajpur of Greater Noida and Gaurav, 22, a resident of Loni Dehat in Ghaziabad.
The Bulandshahr Police claimed that the encounter happened during routine checking by the Arnia Police Station and the SWAT team on the National Highway and they spotted a vehicle approaching.
“When the police team tried to intercept the vehicle, the driver tried to run over the police personnel and sped away without stopping. Soon, the Khurja Nagar police station was alerted about the vehicle and another team reached the spot. “Seeing this, the driver steered the vehicle away from the highway and turned it towards a garden nearby, where his vehicle got stuck in the mud,” said a statement issued by the police.
The three suspects were soon surrounded by the police and they (suspects) opened fire. The police fired in retaliation and two of the accused, Sandeep and Gaurav, were shot in the leg and were later admitted to a hospital.

“We have also recovered two pistols, along with live and empty cartridges, and a car that was used in the incident,” said police.
The three accused were wanted for allegedly raping a teenage girl – a minor – in a moving car in Bulandhshahr on the night of May 6. The girl registered a complaint at the police station concerned, under section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 70(2)(gang rape), 351(2)(criminal intimidation) of BNS and relevant sections of POCSO.
She told the police that Amit and Saneep picked her and her friend in the car from Greater Noida around 8 pm on the pretext of helping her secure a job. “They forced us to have alcohol and drove around Noida till around 1:30 am and another man also entered the vehicle by then. When we objected, they threw my friend out of the moving car, took me to a secluded place and sexually assaulted me…,” the FIR reads.
