A Delhi court on Monday extended by 12 days the National Investigation Agency custody of Tahawwur Rana, a key conspirator of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, allowing the agency’s request. On April 11, the court of Additional Sessions Judge (NIA) Chander Jit Singh sent Rana to the NIA’s custody for 18 days. After this period expired, he was again produced before the Patiala House court. A Delhi court on Friday sent Tahawwur Rana, a key conspirator of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, to the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) custody for 18 days. After his formal arrest at around 10 pm on Thursday, Rana was produced by the agency before Additional Sessions Judge (NIA) Chander Jit Singh of Patiala House Court. The Indian Express has learnt that the NIA sought Rana’s custody stating that he had links with named terrorists and other accused persons in the case. The agency also reportedly stated that Rana was the first accused to be arrested in the case. As per the NIA, the statements of the accused could lead to “additional discoveries”.
