IIT Kharagpur B Tech student found dead in hostel, third in last 5 months
A BTech student was found dead at IIT Kharagpur in the early hours of Sunday, officials said, adding that the 22-year-old student hailed from Bihar’s Sheohar district.The third-year student was found dead inside his hostel room in the SDS Block of Madan Mohan Malviya Hall of the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, West Bengal, when police broke open its door around 3.30 am.
Although it is believed to be a case of suicide, the police are investigating all possible angles.
The student’s room had been locked from the inside since Saturday night. Officials said they informed the police after the student’s classmates who had called out to him repeatedly got no response, with phone calls made to him also going unanswered.
