Watch: Kane Williamson’s heart warming gesture to his 99-year-old fan Muru

New Zealand star batter Kane Williamson surprised his 99-year-old fan Muru on his birthday by giving him a bat signed with the Kiwi team’s signatures on it. Muru speaking on The Project NZ said, “He’s (Williamson) not only a cricketer a man of character. He typically represents a real typical Kiwi.” Muru’s daughter said that supporting the Blackcaps has been an abiding passion right through Muru’s life. She also shared the moment with Williamson when he donated his match fee to terrorist victims in Pakistan in 2014 during the sides series against Pakistan held in UAE, was the moment her father became his fan. When the family of 99-year-old cricket superfan Muru reached out to NZ Cricket, they were hoping for a cheeky birthday autograph. But the @BLACKCAPS got him something even better....

NZ vs SL: Neil Wagner ruled out of 2nd Test against Sri Lanka

Neil Wagner has been ruled out of the second Dulux Test against Sri Lanka at the Cello Basin Reserve after a scan on Sunday revealed he has a bulging disc in his back and a torn right hamstring, New Zealand Cricket said in a statement. Wagner felt pain in his right leg while bowling on Day three at Hagley Oval and the scan today revealed the extent of his injuries. The injuries will require an estimated six weeks of recovery time. BLACKCAPS coach Gary Stead said the whole team were feeling for Wagner. “We all know how much playing Test cricket for New Zealand means to Neil and we are all disappointed to see him side-lined like this. “The fact he was still hoping to play on, carrying these injuries shows you just how determined he is to try and give his all for the team.” If required...

Sri Lanka select uncapped players Nishan Madushka and Milan Rathnayake for the Tests against New Zealand

Sri Lanka has selected uncapped players Nishan Madushka and Milan Rathnayake in the 17-man squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand starting in March. Chamika Karunaratne and Lahiru Kumara who have been out of the squad have also made their comebacks. Sri Lanka have last toured New Zealand in 2019.
