If KL Rahul is unavailable for World Cup, Ishan Kishan is his backup option: RP Singh

With India running out of time to sort out their middle order for the 2023 ODI World Cup, the recovery of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer is under the microscope. The two batters had sustained injuries earlier this summer and have remained out of action in the lead up to the marquee tournament in October. Former India pacer RP Singh has a suggestion. If KL Rahul isn’t fit in time for the tournament, keeper-batter Ishan Kishan can be his replacement. “It doesn’t work out with just one chance. According to me, Ishan should play at No. 5 if you see him at No. 5 for the (ODI) World Cup. If KL Rahul is unavailable in the future, Ishan Kishan is his backup option,” Singh told JioCinema. Kishan was India’s top batter in the recently concluded ODI series in the Caribbean, where he scored three conse...

His brilliance, India team captaincy and his bike: RP Singh wishes to beg, borrow and steal these from MS Dhoni

Former India pacer RP Singh wishes to have three things of former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In response to the question of what he would beg, borrow, and steal from MS Dhoni, RP Singh stated his priorities. Singh responded promptly to all three of the questions put to him in an episode of ‘IPL Hangout’. “I would beg Mahi to give me his unmatched ability to catch the pulse of a match,” said the former left-arm pacer who added that he would borrow the India captaincy if he had the opportunity to,” he said. But when it came to the question of stealing, unsurprisingly he eyed one of Dhoni’s priceless possessions. “There are so many things you can steal from him, but I would probably steal one of his bikes, the RX100,” Singh said. Meanwhile, it was a happy homecoming for Dhoni’s y...

‘He’s in XI because he’s lucky for us’: RP Singh reveals what Deccan Chargers skipper Adam Gilchrist said on Harmeet Singh’s inclusion

Ahead of IPL 2023, former India pacer and a member of the IPL 2009 winners Deccan Chargers RP Singh made a rather intriguing revelation. Speaking on Jio Cinema, the veteran said that Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist had chosen right-arm pacer Harmeet Singh Bansal in the final squad as he believed that he is the team’s lucky mascot. During the 2009 IPL season, the pacer from Punjab missed majority of the games, but was included in the playing XI for the final few games. In those matches, he could only manage to scalp 3 wickets and it made Singh wonder as to why Gilchrist was so adamant about not dropping the right-arm pacer from the lineup. “When we talked to the captain and coach about it, they straightaway refused saying, ‘he’s important for the XI’. And why was he important? ‘b...
